Katunayake Police has arrested six foreign nationals
who were staying in Sri Lanka without valid visa documents and one foreigner in possession of illegally imported cigarettes.
According to the police, these foreigners were apprehended during a search conducted last afternoon (11) based on information received by Katunayake Police regarding a group of suspicious foreigners staying in the Andiambalama area of Katunayake.
Police stated that one foreigner was arrested with 1,000 sticks of illegally imported cigarettes (50 packs).
The arrested individuals are all Indian nationals aged 25, 26, 33, 38, 39, and 42.
Further investigations are being conducted by Katunayake Police.
