Health Minister says willing to sacrifice herself to the sea if such act would stop Covid in Sri Lanka

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi informed Parliament today that she is willing to offer herself as a sacrifice to the sea if such an act would stop the COVID-19 in Sri

Lanka.

The Health Minister made the statement in response to criticism over her decision to seek divine intervention to stop the spread of the coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

The Health Minister was criticised on social media after she was seen throwing a pot of water, which some termed as “miracle water” into the river to seek divine intervention.

The Minister told Parliament today that as a strong Buddhist she follows Buddhist teachings and rituals every day.
