The Meteorology Department says the prevailing rainy
conditions in the south-western part of the island is expected to enhance to some extent in the next few days from today (08).
Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Southern provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in Northern and North-central provinces and in Matale district, it said.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
