A fire has broken out in the Kalutara
Divisional Secretariat building, according to Kalutara South Police.
The fire had reportedly broken out at the electrical system on the ground floor of the six-storey building.
The Kalutara Municipal Council (KMC) fire brigade has dispatched two fire engines to help douse the flames.
Officials and employees were evacuated from the building, according to Ada Derana reporter.
It has now been confirmed that the fire was caused by an electrical short and that the fire fighters has managed to control the fire which had started from the building’s the ground floor.
Meanwhile, one of the firefighters who was engaged in dousing the flames has been hospitalized due to breathing difficulties.
