Special delegation to leave for Russia to help repatriate ex-soldiers

MP Gamini Waleboda says that a special delegation

will depart for Russia today (24) to arrange for the repatriation of Sri Lankan ex-military personnel fighting in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and for the related discussions.

The parliamentarian further stated that a delegation comprising six members including the Defence Secretary and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are scheduled to leave for Russia.

The official meeting between the Sri Lankan delegation and the representatives of the Russian government will be held in Moscow on Wednesday (26).

These discussions are planned to include meetings with the Russian Deputy Minister of Defense in the morning and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia in the evening.

MP Waleboda stated that several rounds of diplomatic talks are scheduled to take place during this visit.
