Education Ministry clerk’s arrest with heroin leads to massive drug bust

Police have revealed more information regarding drugs

worth about Rs. 150 million, suspected to belong to an organized criminal known as ‘Dubai Kapila’, seized during a raid conducted near the University of Sri Jayawardenapura today (02).

A total of 13 kg of heroin, 6 kg of hash, 500 grams of cocaine and Rs. 1.5 million in cash were found during this raid conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF) near the Sri Jayawardenepura University in Nugegoda.

Two suspects including a female who were in possession of the cash in question were also arrested by the STF along with a car used to transport stock of narcotics.

The arrested suspects have been identified as a 51-year-old female and a 45-year-old male, who are both residents of Pannipitiya. 

Information has been received that the latter has been carrying out this drug trafficking operation on a large scale using a rented house in the vicinity of the Sri Jayawardenepura University for around 2 years.

Meanwhile, on April 24, a clerk of the Ministry of Education was arrested by Grandpass Police with 01kg 60 grams of heroin and Rs. 4.9 million in cash in connection with the distribution of these drugs.

Information has also been uncovered that the arrested suspect is the main trafficker in the country of ‘Dubai Kapila’, the large-scale drug trafficker currently hiding in Dubai.
